Jenya, Miniature Smooth Black and Tan Dachshund

Jenya is such a ray of sunshine! An incredibly happy-go-lucky hound who is perpetually in a wonderful mood, always smiling, from the moment she opens her eyes in the morning. She is a bold, confident girl, and is extremely atheltic. Ripped with muscle and naturally lean, Jenya would have surely been an Olympic runner or jumper had she been born a person.

Jenya is a supremely smooth, thin skinned girl with a beautiful neck and absolutely perfect topline, both standing and moving.

She is also very healthy, with good dentition and full shiny coat, not prone to allergies or sensitivities of any kind, with healthy digestion, although she can occasionally be a rather picky eater.

Why we picked Jenya to be a part of Altan's

Correct Size and Structure

Being a smaller Miniature, Jenya has a pleasing head profile, perfect ears, and an ample neck with a beautiful arch to it. Her neck to withers flow is excellent, and her topline is dead on straight regardless of what she is currently doing. She has a well formed forechest, compact loin, and a very muscular rear that gives her a lot of drive on the move. Even though she likes to hold her tail like a flagpole when in the ring, most judges had readily forgiven it for her flowing, productive movement and a wonderful attitue at the shows. We feel Jenya has a lot to offer our breeding program.

Shiny, Bright Temperament

Such a perpetuum mobile, Jenya never stops playing, and she is always, always happy. Nothing ever upsets her. She is a very confident girl who loves life. In addition to being such a ray of sunshine, Jenya is a true show machine. She took to the show dog life with gusto and without any training whatsoever. She loves propelling herself around the ring well ahead of her handler and she will jump-jump-jump up and down when waiting for her turn to be examined. Jenya loves showing off. If every show dog had her temperament, nobody would ever need handlers!

Interesting Pedigree

Unrelated to most of our pack, Jenya brings in new qualities and profound genetic diversity to our breeding program. There are many dogs in her pedigree with excellent longevity, as well as reproductive health. Jenya herself comes from a free whelped litter of seven. When DNA testing Jenya, we learned, much to our and her breeder's surprise, that she carries the piebald gene. We like to entertain the idea that one day in the future we may want to try to breed a quality piebald dachshund from Jenya.
